This is how you store research chemicals

This blog will be super short and sweet as there isn’t much to learn about how to store your research chemicals. When you buy research chemicals online, you can safely assume that your trusted vendor has been storing your research materials appropriately. However, when they arrive in your lab, you need to make sure you don’t ruin the quality of your precious chemicals to ensure they live a long and happy shelf life. Actually, ‘shelf life’ is a bit ironic as there are a handful of research chemicals that are best kept in refrigerators and freezers if you wish to prolong their quality for the longest you possibly can!

To simplify things, this blog will include a short breakdown of some popular research chemicals categories and their storing instructions/tips.

Lysergamides

This is how to store Lysergamides.

Blotters – If you have a vacuum seal machine in your at-home laboratory, we can suggest keeping your blotters in either a refrigerated or frozen environment. It is very important that you only put your blotters in your fridge or freezer if they are 100% sealed, or else you could risk ruining them with excessive moisture. If you do not have a vacuum machine, then keeping them in a dark place that is (at least) room temperature will do. Putting them in the freezer will make them last the longest, however, they will still last years and years if you at least keep them in a dark cool place.

Liquid Lysergamide Drops – Do not put your drops in a fridge. They are best kept in a dark place that is also at least room temperature. We always suggest keeping them in a dark cupboard so they are standing and the chances of them leaking are totally avoidable.

Tryptamines

This is how to store your Tryptamines.

Powder form – Keep in a sealed bag and refrigerate. Again, feel free to keep your Tryptamines in your freezer but only if you ensure they are totally vacuum sealed! They will still last a long time out of the freezer but we highly recommend keeping them below room temperature.

Spray Bottles – Keep in a dry and cool place. Go ahead and put your spray bottles in the fridge if you wish but it isn’t totally necessary. Avoid the freezer as the spray bottles contain liquid. UV rays and heat are the most important things to look out for. Also, make sure that you keep your spray bottles standing so there is no chance of a leak.

Phenylethylamine & Arylcyclohexylamines

This is how to store your Phenylethylamines and Arylcyclohexylamines.

Powder: Keep safe at room temperature and never leave in direct sunlight. For the best shelf life, keep them in a dark, cool cupboard.

Pellets: Same goes for pellets, however, you can put these in the freezer if you want to keep these fresh for the longest time possible. As always, make sure they are in a sealed air-tight bag and you will be fine!

Final thoughts

Very simple, very straightforward, very easy. It isn’t rocket science, is it? The main reason for keeping your chemicals in a dark and cool place is to prolong the potency of your researching materials. UV rays and heat can very easily damage the quality of your compounds, weakening them drastically. For best results, make sure your lab has:

Refrigerator and freezer
-Vacuum seal machine
-Vacuum seal bags
-Clean, dry and safe place like a cupboard

A few tips for your lab that will allow everything goes as smoothly as possible; Ensure you are wearing protective gear when handling any and all research chemicals to avoid accidents from happening. We suggest you wear a lab coat, gloves and protective eyewear. Additionally, never wear open-toed footwear in the lab!

Happy researching!
